Using the Education Institution to Create History, Part 1: Introduction

The destruction and rebuilding of American history is not an act of eminent domain. However, usurpation of power and control has similar attributes.

As a reasonably well-educated student, I had read and studied the statement that the victors write history. That was true of Ceasar’s Gallic Wars, as it is true of the information operations today. But I had not come across the concept of “if you don’t like your history, recreate it” until my doctoral studies. Of all courses for this concept to rear its head, it was a leadership course. The framework concept was leaders create the organization’s narrative, myths, and legends. Here, creating myth created an alternative history. The Education Institution learned this lesson and is now putting it into practice to facilitate a new balance of power in the US government that contradicts the Constitution.

To show why they want to do this, let us step back to the end of the French and Indian War/Seven Years War. The British crown spent vast sums to fight not only the French and Indian War in the American colonies but to protect its German properties on the continent in the Seven Years War component of a global conflict. The book, Crucible of War: The Seven Years’ War and the Fate of Empire in British North America, 1754-1766, provides a great overview of how this war shaped American concern over the abuse of government power.

The founders also read and understood history. They read about conversions of democracies to autocracies and the ability of governments to control and compel behavior. Thomas Jefferson enumerated many of these concerns as grounds for independence in The Declaration of Independence. They also documented many of these concerns in The Federalist Papers. The political science section of the Greenman House website provides links to the Federalist Papers and other key documents on the founding of the republic.

Their own experience and their study of history shaped the US Constitution. The founders were very careful to constrain the federal government and protect the states’ power as an offset and check to federal power. The 10th Amendment is quite clear on this point: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Now, let us move through the early 1900s to today. The waypoint in the early 1900s is an important transition point. A hundred plus years ago, most liberals thought the government was the enemy. Anarchists killed a US president and conducted bombings. Then a curious thing happened. Communists took power in Russia and showed the left could use the government power to further their own agenda. It took the left in the US quite a while to digest this lesson—even in the 1960s Democratic controlled government cracked down on the left—but today they have learned and digested the lesson. Their experience with the Great Society and the levers of government showed them it is better to be in control than to be controlled.

They do have the problem, however, of US history and the founding documents. They clearly show the intent was to constrain the power of government, balance it between the states and the federal government, and, as the Preamble to the US Constitution states, “to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”.

If the left wants to exploit the power of the federal government, they need to reconstruct US history and obscure the founding of the Republic. That is exactly what they are doing, from changing the way schools teach American history to destroy statues, to discrediting the founders of the Republic. The purpose of the 1619 initiative is not to present Black history differently, but to re-write American history.

Follow-on parts will discuss these issues and how citizens can stop the destruction of US history and preserve the Republic. The left’s destruction is not an act of eminent domain.
